Francoforte Spaghetti Bar

A hidden Northbridge laneway gem, Francoforte is a must-visit for unapologetically simple pasta. Featuring everything from classic spaghetti bolognese to creamy pig-cheek carbonara, you’ll want to grab a seat early at this notoriously busy pasta joint. Our tip? Don’t skip the antipasto for two as an entrée – the platter is loaded with homely Italian favourites and a bargain at only $15.

Any Italian food fiend will be familiar with Garum at the Westin. Developed by renowned chef Guy Grossi, the menu explores ancient Roman cooking, giving it a modern makeover. Their pasta dishes include Spaghetti Chitarra with calamari and squid ink in a tomato base, and Tortellini filled with duck, mushroom and sage. They also have a retail space offering specialty items from pickled Fremantle octopus to house-made garum (roman fish sauce) – you can also grab some of their fresh handmade pasta to take home with you.

Lulu La Delizia

Tucked away in Subiaco’s Forrest Walk, the proof is in the name at Lulu La Delizia – it’s all delicious. Hours are spent crafting and perfecting the restaurant’s extensive pasta menu which is complemented by a heavenly Italian wine list. Keep an eye on their Facebook for the scoop on their weekly chef specials; previous dishes have featured duck and currant ragu, pickled zucchini flowers and saffron spaghettini.

Tommy Sugo

Home-cooked and moderately priced, the Shark Tank-nominated Tommy Sugo offers 11 varieties of pasta and an easily customisable menu that is tailored to suit all dietary requirements (their spelt ravioli is a must-try). Its grab-and-go flagship at Broadway in Nedlands is perfect for a quick pasta fix. Grab a cup-full of bite-sized arancini balls for a suitably delicious pre-pasta treat.

Three Coin

Mount Lawley’s Three Coin restaurant is the dream of an Italian family who combine their individual areas of expertise to offer an authentic taste of regional Italian cuisine. Backed by the philosophy that food must be made with only the best ingredients, they source all their produce from local WA producers. Their pasta is freshly made in house each day, and their selection spans from woodfired Ricotta Gnocchi to homemade Pappardelle with slow cooked wagyu neck Ragu.

Solo Pasta

Beaufort Street eatery Solo Pasta was put on the map in 2017 for its offering of ‘pasta by the metre’ – and it might be the most Insta-worthy eatery on this list thanks to its inventive spinach and beetroot pasta flavours. With three metres to every standard pasta dish, it’s up to you to add length and choose your base (tomato, cream or olive oil). As an added incentive, Solo have hopped on the eco-friendly train and have ditched their plastic straws for pasta tubes.

Il Lido

Once an art-deco cabaret hall, the picturesquely-located Il Lido Italian canteen in Cottesloe is a hotspot for pasta enthusiasts who crave a meal with a view. With seasonal antipasti available from 11:30am daily, pop in and stay a while for a bowl of their house made pasta, which is available from 12pm. This ambient spot is renowned for its generous portions and mouth-watering, Italian-inspired flavours. They also host an ‘Oyster Sunday’ session from 1pm every Sunday, where the ‘King of Oysters’ Jerry Fraser shucks fresh oysters for your enjoyment.

Pappagallo is a Perth institution, and though it is renowned for its traditional, Roman-style pizzas, the pasta at Pappagallo should be similarly hyped. Head to their cosy Leederville location to indulge in a ‘Pasta of the Day’ (if feeling avventuroso), or take your pick from the menu; spaghetti, tagliatelle, gnocchi, ravioli, risotto or cavatelli just like Nonna makes! Since opening in 1999, Ciao Italia in South Perth has provided many a visitor with a supremely authentic Italian experience. Offering an impressive 17 pasta dishes, purists will delight in traditional recipes and the more adventurous will devour the ‘Ciao Italia’ special – a house combination of chicken, mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes in a creamy white sauce. Siena’s of Leederville

Sitting pretty amongst the bustling life on Oxford Street in Leederville, Siena’s spoils its guests with fine Italian food and service. Segmenting its four pasta menus by sauce and base, making a choice from Siena’s 19 pasta varieties is a humorously difficult task. Siena’s dinner specials ensure a packed house from Monday to Wednesday, with $15 pizza or pasta and $10 cocktails on offer to lucky guests who can nab a table. But, fear not – the spacious restaurant area can accommodate group bookings with ease.
