Thinking of studying performing arts? Curious about what goes into professional productions? Get an insight into the incredible world of performance and stagecraft at the WA Academy of Performing Arts Open Day, this coming Sunday October 11, 10am to 3pm

In a scaled-back version of the yearly showcase, future students and curious concertgoers can meet some of WAAPA’s talented faculty, learn about course structures, speak to current students, enjoy live concerts, tour performance studios, design workshops and film and broadcasting facilities, and even sit in on rehearsals.

All of the sessions are free, but capacity is limited due to current restrictions, so make sure you don’t miss out! In addition to these sessions, check out the outdoor amphitheatre and the Edith Spiegeltent, as well as other areas on the ECU Mt Lawley campus.

There are a whole range of activities happening across the campus, including Mini Golf, Food Trucks, VR & Motion Capture opportunities, Printmaking, Glass blowing and even axe throwing and bungee runs.

Dance Showings Watch open rehearsals from the Classical and Contemporary Dance students during these 4 sessions in Studio A.

Performing Arts Presentations Lecturers representing Aboriginal Performance, Acting, Music Theatre, Performing Arts and Screen Performance will talk about their courses followed by a short Q&A session in The Edith. There will be 4 sessions throughout the day.

Production & Design Guided Tours Take a a guided tour of WAAPA’s venues; The Enright Studio, Geoff Gibbs Theatre and The Roundhouse Theatre. Each venue has sets, costumes, designs, lighting states on display for the current in-house production seasons of A Chorus LineThe Elephant Man and The Comedy of Errors. Your tour guides will be members of the Production and Design faculty. There will be 10 half hour sessions.
