The Museum of the Riverina in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, is a local history museum that showcases the rich history of the Riverina region. Established in 1967 by the Wagga Wagga and District Historical Society, the museum has two impressive sites. The first site is situated in the former Historic Council Chambers, built in 1881, which was converted in 1998 to function as a museum facility. This site hosts traveling exhibitions and serves as a meeting venue in the former chamber. The second site, adjacent to the Botanic Gardens, was formerly run by the Wagga Wagga & District Historical Society and opened in 1965.
The museum is responsible for collecting and caring for more than 15,000 objects, photographs, textiles, and paper-based materials that help tell the stories of the people and events that have shaped the Riverina region. In addition to its permanent collections, the Museum of the Riverina also presents touring shows of national significance, making it an engaging and educational destination for visitors to the Riverina area.
