Parks in Torres Strait

The Torres Shire Council in Queensland oversees the maintenance of several parks and garden areas, such as the Esplanade, Ken Brown Oval, and Anzac Park. Ken Brown, a former administrator for Thursday Island. This park is frequently utilized for sporting events and school programs. With contributions from the Commonwealth Government, the Thursday Island R.S.L, and local families, a memorial honoring the Torres Strait Light Infantry Battalion members was erected in the park.

Both Anzac Park and Ken Brown Oval are available for hire by the community for hosting various events and activities. While not within the Torres Strait, Possession Island National Park in Queensland includes Possession and Eborac islands and is managed by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service.
