Polish Film Festival in Perth

The POLISH FILM FESTIVAL celebrates its 10th anniversary with a fantastic selection of award-winning films, screening this October and November across Luna Leederville and The Backlot Perth.

From Venice premieres to Oscar submissions and Gdynia Film Festival favourites, the 2024 lineup showcases the very best of contemporary Polish cinema. Whether you're after gripping spy thrillers, captivating dramas, light-hearted comedies, or something unique like the hand-painted animation, and Poland's Oscar submission, based on a Nobel Prize-winning novel, there's something for everyone—including younger audiences. Opening the festival on Sunday, 20 October, at Luna Leederville is DOPPELGÄNGER: THE DOUBLE, a critically acclaimed Cold War spy thriller unfolding across both sides of the Iron Curtain. The film follows the intertwined lives of Hans Steiner in Strasbourg and Jan Bitner in Gdansk, two men living in parallel worlds yet mysteriously connected. Vogue (Poland) has praised the film for its "excellent craftsmanship, superb acting, and unique vision," while Sydney Arts Guide commends director Holoubek’s gripping storytelling and calls lead actor Jakub Gierszal’s performance "stunning."
