Description
Come with us to experience the ancient and living culture of Wollombi, home to one of the oldest living cultures on Earth.
Our guide Leanne King, a Dhurug woman, has been studying the Wollombi cultural lore for more than 30 years and is passionate about sharing it with others. This is no mere myth; the stories of Ngurrumpa (camp world) handed down by our Elders teach us how to live in harmony with all things.
For centuries, Wollombi has been an important site for Aboriginal people to come together for trade, social gatherings, and ceremonies. The focal point of these gatherings is the sacred Mount Yengo, where Baiame, one of the primary creative forces, stepped back into the skyworld after creating life and the Lore. To ensure that the Lore would never be forgotten, Baiame carved it in stone.
At Wollombi Aboriginal Cultural Experiences, we invite you to explore and discover the beauty of this Lore. Join us and learn the stories of the engraving sites.
