Description
Archer Park Railway Museum is a Grade I listed former railway station and now a transport museum on Denison Street, Rockhampton, Rockhampton Region, Queensland, Australia.
It was built between 1897 and 1908. It was known as Archer Park Railway Station and Rockhampton Central Railway Station. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on the 21st. The main attraction of the museum is a rare French Purrey steam tram, rebuilt from parts of the original fleet of steam trams operated by Rockhampton City Council between 1909 and 1939. Archer Park Railway Station, formerly Rockhampton Central Railway Station, is on Denison Street and is an important link to the social, cultural and transport history of Rockhampton and central Queensland. It was Rockhampton's main railway station from the turn of the century to the mid-1920s and is an important element in the development of Queensland's railway network and the growth of the North Coast Railway in the early 20th century. .
