It is accessible by road or public transport, with car hire and bus services available. Before British colonization, the area was inhabited by the Kaurna people. Aldinga Beach is associated with two protected areas, the Aldinga Scrub Conservation Park and the Aldinga Reef Aquatic Reserve. The Aldinga Washpool and Blue Lagoon are located nearby and provide essential habitat for waterbirds and other flora and fauna. Volunteers have been working on rewilding the Aldinga Washpool area, planting gahnia seedlings and advocating for its protection.
