Cataract Dam, located in Cataract (formerly Appin), New South Wales, is a heritage-listed dam that provides water to several regions including Macarthur and Illawarra, the Wollondilly Shire, and metropolitan Sydney.

Constructed in 1907, the dam has a capacity of holding up to 97,000 megaliters of water and has been upgraded several times, with the most recent upgrade completed in 2018.

In addition to its water supply function, Cataract Dam offers recreational activities for visitors. Fishing is a popular activity, with anglers catching Australian bass and trout. The area around the dam also features walking trails that provide stunning views of the surrounding landscape, making it an ideal spot for nature enthusiasts.
