Description
Hiroshi Kobayashi creates paintings based upon digitally manipulated photography by using such industrial devices as a dispenser machine, cutting plotter, spray gun and self-made squeegee tool.
In this project, he transforms landscapes and architectures at Point Heathcote into large-scale pixelated paintings, along with a series of ‘brick’ paintings and a video work recording the production process. He investigates the landscape as a projection of one’s body and vice-versa, the landscape within the body.
The spatial dimension of physical movement is recorded in the tactile layers of high viscosity acrylic paints, and the body of works are redeployed in the gallery space, trying to embody the perceptional interaction circulating between the body (the outside within) and the landscape (the inside without).
