Experience the Natural Beauty of Australian Flora and Fauna at Long Forest Flora and Fauna Reserve Bacchus Marsh Located 50 kilometers west of Melbourne, between Melton and Bacchus Marsh, Long Forest Flora and Fauna Reserve is a 600-hectare protected area managed by Parks Victoria.

Visitors can explore this pristine sanctuary of natural beauty, including over 400 native plant species and more than 160 bird species. The reserve is also a habitat to several mammal species.

Nature enthusiasts will marvel at the variety of plant species Long Forest Flora and Fauna Reserve has to offer. The reserve is home to a variety of plant species, including bull mallee, grey box, Werribee blue box, yellow gum, moonah, turkey bush, and sixteen species of saltbush, including fragrant saltbush. The Rocky Chenopod Scrub community is also present in the reserve, including the only occurrence of a mallee species south of the Great Dividing Range.

Long Forest Flora and Fauna Reserve is home to various mammal species, including eastern grey kangaroos, black-tailed wallabies, koalas, brush-tailed possums, and short-beaked echidnas. Birdwatchers will enjoy sightings of more than 160 species of birds, including the barking owl, crested bellbird, diamond firetail, jacky winter, red-capped robin, and speckled warbler.

In Long Forest Flora and Fauna Reserve, visitors can enjoy a range of activities. Hiking is a popular activity, and the reserve offers several walking trails, such as the Coimadai Circuit. This trail is a 5-kilometer return
