Description

Pambula Lake, also known as 'Broadwater,' is a serene natural wonder that attracts fishing, boating, and paddling enthusiasts.

The lake's tranquil surroundings make it an ideal spot for kayakers, anglers, and those seeking an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Fed by the Pambula and Yowaka rivers, Pambula Lake is renowned as one of the healthiest estuaries in New South Wales. Its exceptional water quality makes it perfect for swimming and water activities.

Boaters and paddlers can take advantage of the excellent boat ramp located at the mouth of the lake. With a river mouth width of approximately 290m and excellent tidal flow, the lake allows for easy access to oceanic waters. The lake's maximum depth is around 12.5m, with an average depth just below 2m, providing ample opportunities for exploration.

Pambula Lake has been a hub for oyster farming since the 1890s. With 16 oyster farms spanning a cumulative 60 hectares, visitors can witness the oysters being brought in from the boats, graded, and shucked. The oysters from Pambula Lake are highly regarded worldwide, thanks to the blend of two rivers and a healthy tidal flush that gives them a smooth, subtle flavor.

The best time to visit Pambula Lake is from December to February when the weather is mild, and the water is warm. To reach the lake, simply turn onto Landings Road off the Princes Highway. Located between Pambula and Eden, there is easy access and parking available at the boat ramp.
