Description

Located on the Barkly Tableland in Queensland, the Wiliyan-Ngurru National Park Camooweal offers a peaceful stopover for travellers.

This national park is an ideal destination for campers, hikers, and birdwatchers who want to explore the region’s unique flora and fauna.

One of the highlights of the park is its spectacular caves and sinkholes. These caves and sinkholes were formed over millions of years through the erosion of dolomite rock. Visitors can explore the caves through the vertical shafts up to 75 meters deep. Visitors can take short walks to the Little Nowranie Cave entrance or the Great Nowranie Cave. The tracks are well-maintained and safe for visitors of all ages. The 70 meter return walk to Little Nowranie Cave entrance takes visitors through the park's stunning landscape of Mitchell grass plains and spinifex woodland. The 220 metre return track to the Great Nowranie Cave offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.

For visitors who want to spend a night or two in the park, the Nowranie Waterhole camping area is an excellent option. The campsite is located in a remote bush setting and offers basic facilities, including toilets and drinking water. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own camping equipment and supplies.

The park is home to a variety of birds, including waterbirds and woodland species. Birdwatchers can spot different kinds of birds at different times of the year. Seasonal bird watching is one of the most popular activities in the park.

The park's internal roads and firebreaks are perfect for mountain biking and trail biking. It
