Edmund Kennedy, Girramay National Park

Girramay National Park is located in Queensland, Australia, and is a part of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area.

It extends along the coastline between the mouths of the Tully River and Meunga Creek at Rockingham Bay. The park boasts a diverse range of vegetation, from mangrove and freshwater swamps to low coastal rainforest, eucalyptus forest, melaleuca woodland, and sedge swamp. Visitors can observe a wide range of wildlife in the park, including the endangered southern cassowary, mahogany glider, and lace monitor lizards. The park is also home to various bird species and hosts the biggest mounds of all mound-building birds in Australia. Girramay National Park has a rich history, originally being home to the Girramay people and later explored by Edmund Kennedy in 1848. Camping is not permitted in the park, but there are picnic facilities available for visitors. To access the park, visitors can take the entrance road located north of Cardwell on the Bruce Highway.
