Description

The Grand Tour Cycle Route Chiltern is a challenging and rewarding 360-degree circuit that takes in the hill tops and heritage sites of the spectacular Chiltern-Mt Pilot National Park.

The tour offers magnificent views of Chiltern and its surrounding areas from the track to Skeleton Hill which reaches 350 metres in elevation.

The tour has a total distance of 38 kilometres and includes nine kilometres of sealed surfaces which make for a smooth ride. The remaining part of the tour is unsealed and could be challenging for inexperienced off-road riders.

This scenic route offers a great opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the stunning natural beauty of the Chiltern-Mt Pilot National Park. Cyclists can take in breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside as they pedal along the route. Along the way, riders will pass heritage sites such as the historic Chiltern Post Office which will take you back to the 1860s when gold mining was the dominant industry of the region.

The Grand Tour Cycle Route Chiltern can be cycled all year round, though the most comfortable times are during the shoulder seasons of autumn and spring when the weather is cooler. Winter can also be a great time to ride for those who enjoy cold weather, but riders need to be prepared for frosty conditions.

The Chiltern-Mt Pilot National Park is located in Victoria just two hours drive from Melbourne. To get to the start of the Grand Tour Cycle Route Chiltern, take the Chiltern exit off the Hume Highway and follow signs to the park. The starting point of the ride is well signposted, and there are plenty of parking options available near the trailhead.
