Endeavour River National Park

Endeavour River National Park is a protected area in Queensland, Australia, safeguarding the natural and cultural resources near the mouth of the Endeavour River.

It is located northwest of Brisbane, the capital city of Queensland.

The park holds historical significance as it was where Joseph Banks and Daniel Solander collected local flora in 1770, transporting them back to England. Sydney Parkinson, an illustrator, documented the local Aboriginal people and fauna, including kangaroos. Lieutenant James Cook's ship, HM Bark Endeavour, also stopped at the river for repairs, leading to the river being renamed after the vessel.

The park is home to diverse habitats, such as coastal dunes, wetlands, mangrove forests, heathlands, and woodlands. Accessible mainly by boat, the park remains protected and pristine. Visitors can still witness the same flora and fauna species observed in 1770, providing an unforgettable experience rooted in Australia's history and nature.
