Description

Coorong National Park is a protected area in South Australia, known for its coastal lagoon ecosystem called The Coorong and the Younghusband Peninsula.

It was established in 1967 and expanded over the years. The park covers approximately 467 square kilometers and is home to diverse wildlife and vegetation. The Coorong's unique aspect is the interaction of water along its length, with sea and freshwater meeting rainfall and groundwater. The park is culturally significant to the Ngarrindjeri people, who have creation stories and a history of sustainable living in the area. The park is also known for its biodiversity and has been featured in works of art such as the film "Storm Boy" and the book "Salt Creek."
