Franklin - Gordon Wild Rivers National Park, Derwent Bridge is a natural wonderland located in Tasmania's western region.

It is part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area and is known for its abundance of natural beauty, including the great western rivers of Tasmania. Visitors to the national park can enjoy a range of wonderful walks with stunning rainforest backdrops. Along the Lyell Highway, which passes through the park on its way to Queenstown, there are several excellent short walks that visitors can explore. One of these is the Franklin River Nature Trail, located about 60 kilometers east of Queenstown. This trail offers a picnic area, toilets, and excellent walks that take visitors through stunning rainforest to the Franklin and Surprise rivers. Further west, visitors can visit Donaghys Hill Lookout for more panoramic wilderness views. Another must-visit spot is the Nelson Falls Nature Trail, which consists of an easy boardwalk through ancient rainforest that leads to a spectacular 30-meter waterfall.

For a unique perspective and experiential opportunity, visitors can access the park via boat. Daily cruises depart from Strahan to explore the densely forested banks of the lower Gordon River, downstream from where the Gordon and Franklin Rivers meet. This allows visitors to appreciate and explore the park from a different angle.
