Description

The Little Desert Discovery Walk is a four-day walk that showcases the varied ecosystems of Little Desert National Park, located in Dimboola, Australia.

This walk takes visitors on a 74 km journey through heathlands, salt lakes, dry woodlands, and along the Wimmera River. Along the way, visitors will have the opportunity to spot kangaroos, emus, and other wildlife. There are two overnight camps along the way for long-distance walkers, which are only accessible by foot.

Little Desert National Park has much to offer beyond the Little Desert Discovery Walk. Visitors can camp beside the Barringgi Gadyin, go on bushwalks, go birdwatching, or four-wheel driving. There are various marked trails throughout the park, ranging from 30-minute walks to three-day hikes. In the spring, after the rains, the park is especially colorful with spectacular orchid displays. The park's campgrounds include Horseshoe Bend Camping Area, Kiata Camping Area, and Mallee Walkers Camp.

The best time to visit Little Desert National Park is between late winter and early summer when temperatures are mild. Spring is a beautiful time to visit due to the orchid displays, but the park is beautiful year-round.

Little Desert National Park is located approximately 350 km northwest of Melbourne. Visitors can access the park via the Western Highway or the Wimmera Highway.
