Description

Pirates Bay Beach is a unique attraction located in the region of Eaglehawk Neck in Tasmania.

The beach is known for its natural marvels consisting of Australia's highest marine cliffs, caves, chasms, a blowhole, and the famous tessellated pavement. With so much to see and explore, Pirates Bay Beach has become a popular destination for adventurers, wanderers, and dreamers.

At the northern end of the beach, visitors can explore the natural rock formation called tessellated pavement which looks like tiles. During low tide, visitors can witness this unique natural wonder and the forests of kelp in the water. The beach is also popular with surfers, and the solid swell is best found in the northern half of the bay near the Tesselated Pavement.

There are many things to see and do near Pirates Bay Beach. Visitors can take a 10-minute walk around the Blowhole to see this unique geological feature carved by years of water and waves. They can also walk all the way around to peer through the gap above the waves out to the open ocean, and on days with big surf, visitors can witness spectacular waves. Another attraction is Cape Hauy Track which is on Tasmania's Great Short Walks list and offers stunning views of Tasman Island and Cape Pillar. Visitors can also take a guided boat tour around Tasman Island.

Pirates Bay Beach is open year-round, 24/7, and is one of the best places to visit while in Eaglehawk Neck. The best time to visit is from December to March when temperatures are warmer. During this time, visitors can enjoy the beach more, go surfing, and participate in other outdoor activities.
