Located just outside of the town of Emerald, the Fairbairn Dam Lake Maraboon is a popular destination for fishing enthusiasts.

The lake is stocked with eight different kinds of fish, including barramundi, golden perch, silver perch, and red claw crayfish making it the ultimate fishing spot.

Apart from fishing, there are plenty of activities for visitors to enjoy. Take a dip in the cool waters of Lake Maraboon, enjoy a family picnic or test your waterskiing skills. You can also take a hike around the lake and enjoy the spectacular scenery.

Several picnic tables and free electric and wood barbecues are available in the area, so visitors can sit back and relax in the great outdoors.

It is important to note that a fishing permit is a requirement for fishing at Lake Maraboon. The best time to visit Lake Maraboon for fishing is in the cooler months when the weather is pleasant and the fish are most active. Lake Maraboon is located just 25km outside of Emerald. Visitors can take the Capricorn Highway and turn onto Lake Maraboon Road to reach the lake. Several parking areas are available around the lake.
