Description

The Three Capes Track Fortescue is a remarkable independent multi-day walking experience located on the Tasman Peninsula of Tasmania.

This 48 km track leads you through a myriad of natural landscapes, including rainforests and flowering coastal heathland. The track is meticulously crafted, allowing you to enjoy the environment rather than having to watch every step.

The track offers magnificent cliff-top outlooks on Cape Pillar, Cape Hauy, and stunning views to Cape Raoul. You can get as close as you are comfortable to some of Australia's highest sea cliffs, replete with turquoise waters and white sand beaches. You will be able to rest your head in warmth and comfort in environmentally-sensitive cabins, which are equipped with mattresses, heating, and cooking facilities. Host Rangers will be on hand at each cabin to assist and answer any questions you might have during the four-day and three-night journey.

There is no real 'right' time to hike the Three Capes Track Farewell – it really comes down to personal preference! As it's Tasmania, the weather can be highly unpredictable, but summer, from December to March, is the best time to undertake the walk. In addition, from September to November, the walk features a spectacular spring blooming of plants, giving visitors a unique experience of nature.

Your journey begins with a Pennicott Wilderness Journeys cruise departing from the World Heritage-listed Port Arthur Historic Site, which is a three-hour drive southeast of Hobart. After the cruise, the four-day and three-night journey begins, leading to the turquoise waters and white sand beach of Fortescue Bay. After finishing the Three Capes Track, transport is provided to take hikers back to Port Arthur.
