Description

Little Gibber, also known as Dark Point, is a rocky headland located in the southern area of Myall Lakes National Park, north of Hawks Nest in Australia.

It holds significant cultural importance for the Worimi people and was declared an Aboriginal Site of Significance in 2002.

Experience the unique history of the area while on a camping holiday in Myall Lakes National Park. Take a walk along the Dark Point walking track, which starts at the car park on Mungo Brush Road - this offers spectacular views of Broughton Island and passes by historic middens. The track leads to Dark Point, where visitors can explore the area rich with cultural and historical significance for the Worimi People. Visitors can also explore the unique region by making tracks to Mungo Brush campground situated not too far from Dark Point. During this period, the weather is mild, and the crowd is relatively fewer. The summer months from December to February can be hot and humid, and the area can get crowded with tourists.

Visitors can drive along Mungo Brush Road from Hawks Nest for approximately 15km and turn into the car park on the right. Parking is available at the Dark Point car park off Mungo Brush Road. Alternatively, visitors can park on Mungo Brush Road and access the beach by walking over the Dark Point sand dunes. Once there, explore the cultural and historical significance of this rocky headland - it is well worth a visit.
