Description

Yacaaba Headland Walk is a challenging 6 km trail located in Myall Lakes National Park, near Hawks Nest, New South Wales.

The trail offers scenic views of Port Stephens, Seal Rocks, and Tomaree Headland. It is rocky, steep, and considered challenging, with an elevation gain of 215m. The trail provides opportunities to explore forest areas, beaches, and coastal views. It takes an average of 1 hour 48 minutes to complete and is open year-round.

The trail begins at the Jimmy Beach Reserve carpark and goes along Bennett's beach. The path is well-travelled and visible, but the rocks on the tracks can be slippery. As you hike up, the trail becomes rockier, and the forested ridge top offers breathtaking coastal views. Cabbage Tree Island can be seen on clear days. The trail is popular for birding, fishing, and hiking.

Visitors can go on the Yacaaba Headland Walk year-round, but they should check safety measures, pack appropriate gear, and consider weather and tide conditions. Low tide is ideal for the beach walk to the trailhead, and clear and dry weather is recommended for hiking. The trail is accessible to most hikers, including families and kids.

To reach the trailhead, visitors can drive to the Jimmy Beach Reserve carpark at the end of Beach Road, where parking is free. Toilets and picnic facilities are available at Jimmys Beach reserve.

For an enjoyable and safe experience, visitors should check weather and tide conditions, pack appropriate gear, and bring drinking water, a hat, and sunscreen. Good hiking boots are recommended for the rocky and steep sections, especially when wet. The steep climb to the summit is rewarding
