Description

Kellys Falls Track Helensburgh is a thrilling and scenic walking trail in Garawarra State Conservation Area.

It is known for its cascading waterfall, deep pool, and verdant ferns, making it a popular destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers. Accessing the falls requires agility and is not recommended for everyone. The track starts at the Kelly's Falls car park and is not marked, making it an unofficial swimming spot. The descent to the swimming hole is steep and challenging, requiring climbing and skirting around ledges.

At the base of the falls, there are flat rocks suitable for changing and enjoying the view. The scene is framed by lush bushland and ferns watered by the waterfall's spray. There are also options to climb up using a rope on the left side of the waterfall or access a slippery secondary platform from the right. The difficulty of access is rated as 7/10, with caution advised due to steepness and potential slipperiness.

The best time to visit Kellys Falls is during the summer months, especially on weekends. While swimming is possible year-round, the swimming hole can get crowded during peak periods. Nearby Helensburgh offers picnic tables in the car park, but no other facilities. There are options for dining and grabbing a bite in Helensburgh, as well as accommodation options.

In addition to visiting Kellys Falls, visitors can explore other nearby walking tracks, go mountain biking, or horse riding. The area is also home to various wildlife species, including damselflies, dragonflies, finches, bowerbirds, honeyeaters, and wattlebirds.
