Description

Wistari Wall is a dive site located just one kilometre south of Heron Island.

It stands out among the dive sites of the Wistari Reef with its stunning wall that drops from 3 meters to 20 meters. Divers can enjoy a fascinating display of hard and soft corals, as well as breathtaking gorgonian fans.

Diving in Wistari Wall offers an exciting experience with sea currents that attract a variety of pelagic fish. Divers can spot schools of trevally, mackerel, rainbow runners, barracuda, batfish, and tuna. The wall is also home to a healthy population of reef fish, turtles, tasselled wobbegongs, reef sharks, Maori wrasse, coral trout, and gropers. The best way to experience Wistari Wall is as a drift dive, where you can cruise along the wall and admire the underwater wonderland. Although the currents can be tricky, experienced divers can easily navigate them. The underwater visibility is excellent, providing clear views of the marine inhabitants.

The best time to visit Wistari Wall is between the months of April and November when the water temperatures range from 21-25°C. During this period, visibility is also expected to be at its best.

To reach Wistari Wall, visitors can catch a ferry or a boat from Gladstone Harbour, which takes approximately 2 hours. Alternatively, visitors can fly to Heron Island, which has its airstrip.
