Flinders Discovery Centre Hughenden offers an incredible experience to visitors who want to learn about fossils and the local history of Hughenden.

The centre is located in the Flinders Shire in North Queensland, Australia.

The centre boasts a huge display area that is home to an exceptional exhibition of fossils from around the world, including an excellent collection of fossils from the local area. Visitors can also witness the star attraction, "Hughie," a life-sized skeletal replica of the Muttaburrasaurus.

One of the highlights of the centre is the spectacular light and sound show, which takes visitors 500 million years back to the beginning of Porcupine Gorge. The vivid display of light and sound will transport you to another time and place.

There is a Bioregions display at the centre that gives concise information about the four different bioregions in the Shire. This display explains the land types, flora and fauna that are unique to these areas, and visitors can learn about the local flora and fauna.

Those interested in local history can check out "Shearing the Stragglers." This exhibit showcases the story of the decline of the sheep industry throughout the Flinders Shire. Visitors can learn about the hardships and changes that people experienced in the area, from 1865 to present day times.

While wandering around the centre, visitors can enjoy the video on Hughenden and District that tells the story of how Hughenden came to be.

The Flinders Discovery Centre Hughenden is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except for Good Friday, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day.
