Description

Etty Bay is a secluded beach located 15km from Innisfail in Far North Queensland.

It offers scenic beauty and is surrounded by rainforest, making it ideal for relaxation and bushwalking. The final kilometer of the road to the bay is an enchanting drive over the Moresby Range.

The beach itself is known for its fine-grain white sand and crystal clear water. Visitors can enjoy activities such as surfing, swimming, sailing, boating, and fishing. Facilities for day visitors include a Surf Lifesaving Club, a small caravan park, and picnic spots with electric barbeque zones.

Etty Bay is famous for its population of endangered cassowaries, which can be seen in their natural habitat. Visitors should be cautious as these flightless birds can be dangerous. Saltwater crocodiles are also known to inhabit the waters near the bay, so it's important to observe all warnings. Monitor lizards can occasionally be spotted as well. Visitors should be aware of potential hazards such as crocodiles, Box Jellyfish, and the deadly Irukandji jellyfish.

Fishing is a popular activity at Etty Bay, with opportunities to catch a variety of fish such as barramundi, coral trout, mackerel, and more. Soft plastic and popper lures are recommended, but bait like squid and prawn can also be effective.
