Description

The Baudin Conservation Park Ironstone Hill Hike Ironstone is a scenic hike along the coast east of Penneshaw.

The trail follows a section of the original bullock track to Cape Willoughby. Visitors can expect to be treated to stunning views of Backstairs Passage and the Fleurieu Peninsula.

As visitors make their way through the hike, they will be whisked away into regenerating sheoak vegetation. At the end of the hike is Harry Bates' cottage and a stone threshing floor on Ironstone Hill. These sites provide a glimpse into the farming heritage of the area, which is further interpreted on signs along the hike.

This hike can be enjoyed year-round, but the best time to go is from September to November when temperatures are mild, and wildflowers are in bloom.

The Baudin Conservation Park Ironstone Hill Hike Ironstone is located east of Penneshaw, and getting there is easy. Visitors can drive along the Playford Highway towards Cape Willoughby Road, where they will take a left towards Cape Willoughby. From there, it's a short drive until reaching the car park at the trailhead.
