From May 16 to June 5, the 2024 HSBC German Film Festival, in association with German Films, returns to Luna Leederville and Luna on SX to showcase the best contemporary German cinema direct from major festivals in Europe, plus a selection from its German-speaking neighbours, Austria and Switzerland.
Opening the festival is FROM HILDE, WITH LOVE (In Liebe, Eure Hilde) which premiered to widespread acclaim at the recent Berlinale. Featuring an extraordinary performance from Liv Lisa Fries as a young woman drawn into the anti-Nazi resistance movement during World War II, the film is a compelling historical drama and remarkable true story.
School bookings are open for kino for kids sessions!
Two more films are being added to the Kino for Kids lineup, to be announced soonPresented by cultural partner the Goethe-Institut, the festival will again include the sidebar “Kino for Kids”, a special curated program dedicated to young audiences and families. This section invites schools and families to attend the festival to engage with German culture and learn the language.
