Description
Now, at 70, Wayne is on the cusp of something big, but he’s haunted by the same demons that have kept him from realizing his dreams in the past.
Wayne Green, a rock singer, has teetered on the brink of fame not once, but three times. As he turns 70, he’s embarking on a project that represents the pinnacle of his life’s work. However, the same inner struggles that have thwarted him in the past are resurfacing, threatening to derail him once again.
Through a series of flashbacks, we witness his near-misses with fame. In the 1970s, he was a member of The Phantoms, a band that performed over 300 shows a year in Perth. The Phantoms had a chance to move to the East Coast, but miss they missed the opportunity, and the band soon dissolved.
In the 1980s, Wayne joined The Boys, a young band gaining national attention. They toured with The Kinks and were on the verge of stardom, but relationships soon fell apart and Wayne found himself bandless and without direction.
In the 1990s, Wayne launched a solo country project under the name Kid Green, which gained enough notoriety to inspire a movie. This took him to Nashville, but the movie stalled, and his chance to work with Decca Records was lost when he decided not to board his flight back to Nashville.
