Description
There’s a genuine pleasure for both old fans and neophytes and if you aren’t tapping your foot to this movie then you probably died years ago.
With Mutiny in Heaven still ringing in your ears, it is time to turn your noise-rock attention to the figure of Stu Spasm (aka Stuart Gray), suburban Australian model maker, sculptor, and key figure in the legendary Lubricated Goat.
One of the key proto-grunge bands and another local export that screwed with rock and roll to create something wilder than most could imagine, here was a band, and an artist, that charted their own wild path.
Some may remember the joyous noise of their debut album Plays The Devil’s Music, part recorded in Perth, others may recall Lubricated Goat’s infamous appearance, sans clothes, on ABC TV’s Blah Blah Blah.
Director Jason Summers was a cameraperson for renowned directors Errol Morris and Barbara Koppel, and, alongside producer Kate Fix, served as camera people on the 2002 Academy Award winning short film Thoth, in this documentary they take the viewer deep into the world of Stu Spasm.
Interviews are punctuated with archival footage of some of the finest music to emerge from these shores, featuring various manifestations of Lubricated Goat alongside blasting footage of Spasm’s current outfit The Art Gray Noizz Quintet.
