Description

North Head Sanctuary Manly is a nature refuge located on the peninsula at the northern entrance to Sydney Harbour.

It holds significance to the Traditional Owners and Custodians, the Gayamagal People. The park offers diverse flora and fauna, military fortifications from World War II, and signs of early quarantine practices. Visitors can explore over 10 kilometers of easy walking tracks, including the Sanctuary Loop, which can be completed in under two hours. North Fort, integral to Sydney's defense in World War II, provides insight into Australia's wartime past. The Memorial Walk commemorates Australia's involvement in conflicts over the last 150 years. The Third Quarantine Cemetery is recommended for those interested in early quarantine practices. Bella Vista Cafe is available for refreshments. North Head Sanctuary Manly is a great place to visit all year round, with Spring and Autumn being the best seasons. Visitors can reach the sanctuary by ferry, bus, car, or bicycle.
