Isabel Ricketts

Apart from painting in watercolour, acrylic and oil, I like to experiment with different painting mediums, building layered works and exploring personal and historical subjects.

Underpinning all my work is nature, from the domestic garden to landscape. I may be struck by a shaft of light hitting a tree in a particular way on my morning walk and observing the billowing clouds on a windy day - then the merging fluidity of colours in the sky at sunset. I like too, glimpses of movement in the bush, stopping quietly to watch and spotting maybe a bird such as a grey robin harbingering the beginning of cooler weather.

I studied art at The National Art School Sydney and have had several solo exhibitions and group exhibitions in NSW and WA. My work is held in the Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery collection and in private collections in Australia and overseas.
