Description

Pipemakers Park is a historically significant parkland located in the inner western suburbs of Melbourne.

It was created on the former site of a pipe works and meat preserving company in the 1980s, and retains several historic buildings and interpreted industrial ruins. The Melbourne's Living Museum of the West, located within the park, showcases the area's historical significance.

The park is situated on the western bank of Maribyrnong River, adjacent to Highpoint Shopping Centre, making it easily accessible for visitors. It covers 6.5 hectares and offers lush greenery and a beautiful view of the surrounding area. The park sits on the floodplain of the river below a steep escarpment of the western basalt plains.

Formerly managed by Parks Victoria, the management of Pipemakers Park was taken over by the Maribyrnong City Council in 2014. The council has done an excellent job of maintaining the park.

Pipemakers Park is a great destination for picnics, barbeques, or leisurely walks. It perfectly combines history and natural beauty, showcasing Melbourne's appreciation for uniqueness and cultural heritage.
