Description

Mary River Parklands is a 500 square metres landscaped public park located in the historic Port of Maryborough area.

It forms part of the Portside Precinct and is an essential aspect of the city's urban renewal plans. The park offers beautiful views, natural terracing, and serves as a link between Queens Park, the Wharf Street Heritage Precinct, the Brolga Theatre, and the river.

Visitors to Mary River Parklands can enjoy stunning public artworks, winding pathways, magnificent royal palms, and gardens similar to those found in nearby Queens Park. The park also features a community forecourt and natural terracing, providing an ideal location to sit and appreciate the surrounding beauty.

One of the highlights of the park is the Queens Wharf, a new 23-meter long wharf that matches the original timber wharfs along the riverbank. Walking out onto the Queens Wharf offers views of the river and its surroundings.

Mary River Parklands is open to the public all year round, with the best time to visit being during the daytime to fully appreciate the gardens and artworks. Visitors can also attend events and festivals held at the nearby Brolga Theatre, making for a fantastic day out.

To reach Mary River Parklands, visitors can take different routes depending on their starting point. From Hervey Bay, one can drive on the Bruce Highway, turn left onto Alice Street, right onto Sussex Street, left onto Kent Street, and continue until reaching the park. From Bundaberg, one can take the Isis Highway, turn right onto Maryborough-Biggenden Road, reach the Maryborough Central Business District, turn left onto Kent Street, and continue until reaching the park.
