Description

The Westside Bikeway is a 12-kilometer shared walking and cycling route that passes through Adelaide's western suburbs.

It follows the former Holdfast Bay railway line, providing a connection from Glenelg to the Adelaide Parklands. The bikeway begins near Mile End railway station and runs parallel to James Congdon Drive until it intersects with South Road. From there, it follows the railway easement with minor roads nearby and includes traffic lights at main road crossings. Along the bikeway, you'll see an old railway platform at Plympton and it intersects with the Sturt River Trail at Anzac Highway.

There are convenient street connections along the bikeway, allowing for an easy commute between Glenelg, Glenelg North, and the Adelaide Parklands. The Sturt River path offers a quiet street connection to Glenelg North, while the Mike Turtur Bikeway provides access to Glenelg. The Westside Bikeway is a great way to enjoy the western suburbs of Adelaide while getting in some exercise. It caters to both experienced cyclists and those looking for a leisurely stroll.
