Description

Located in Mungo National Park, the Walls of China Viewing Platform is one of the most iconic views in Outback NSW.

Visitors can experience this natural wonder when taking the self-guided drive tour through the park. The wheelchair-accessible lookout is just west of the Mungo Visitor Centre and provides magnificent views across the famous World Heritage Willandra Lakes region.

The Walls of China Viewing Platform offers breathtaking views of the dramatic land formations sculpted by wind and erosion in the Mungo National Park. It is a great spot to visit at sunrise or sunset when the view is particularly awe-inspiring. Visitors can enjoy the scenic desert views, while also taking note of the visible historic relics of early Aboriginal culture imbedded deep within the ancient lakebeds. These relics are believed to be over 36,000 years old and offer vital clues to the evolution of life on Earth. The amount of preserved history contained in this one spot is truly remarkable and not to be missed.

The Walls of China Viewing Platform is accessible year-round. It's recommended to arrive at the lookout 30 minutes before sunrise or sunset to allow time to set up and appreciate the views.

The Walls of China Viewing Platform is located within Mungo National Park, which is approximately 875 km west of Sydney. If you are driving, travel 140 km northeast of Mildura via the Sturt Highway and follow the signs to Mungo National Park. Visitors can also fly into Mildura Airport and hire a car for the journey, or take a scenic flight over the park. Once you have arrived in the park, a self-guided drive tour is available
