Description

The Gascoyne-Murchison Outback Pathways offer a unique opportunity to traverse the timeless landscapes of the outback, following in the tracks of some of the most courageous pioneers.

The region's history spans more than 150 years of European settlement and 30,000 years of Yamatji people's culture.

There are three main trails: the Miner's Pathway, Kingsford Smith Mail Run, and Wool Wagon Pathway, each with its own highlights and unique experiences. To begin the Miner's Pathway, take the five-hour drive north of Perth to Paynes Find. To reach the Kingsford Smith Mail Run, head to Gascoyne Junction, three hours' drive east of Carnarvon. Finally, for the Wool Wagon Pathway from Geraldton, take the five-hour drive or a one-hour flight from Perth.

The Western Australia's transport pioneer's trail on the Kingsford Smith Mail Run is one of the most fascinating experiences that showcases the wild and heady days of the Gold Rush. The Wool Wagon Pathway takes you through some stunning pastoral country and is an ideal trail for those who want to relive the adventures of pastoral pioneers. The Miner’s Pathway, on the other hand, offers a glimpse of the region's rich mining history.

The ideal time to travel on the Gascoyne Murchison Outback Pathways is between April and October. During this time, the weather is pleasant enough for comfortable travel. If you're planning to travel along the paths, there are several accommodation options available, including station stays, caravan parks, bed and breakfasts, hotels, and motels.
