Description

Noosa River is a well-known river course situated in South East Queensland, Australia.

It rises near Mount Elliot from the Como Escarpment within the Great Sandy National Park coastal region. The river is 65 km long and is made up of a catchment spotted around Tewantin, known for its lakes. Surrounding the river are several lakes, including Lake Cooroibah, Lake Como, Lake Cootharaba, Lake Cooloola, and Lake Weyba, offering an environment perfect for outdoor activities.

The logging of the Noosa River began in 1864, and a sawmill was subsequently built, which has been in operation since 1870. The council reduced the original plans for his luxury resort on the river.

The vast expanse of several kilometers of beach extending to the north of the Noosa River mouth was previously a highly coveted destination for four-wheel driving. The Noosa River is recognized today for its population of migratory birdlife. An investigation into this issue has been ongoing.

Tourists can take a Noosa Ferry along the river to explore the breathtaking scenery through Noosa Heads to Tewantin or vice versa. The Noosa River & Canal Cruises, which also depart from Noosaville and Noosa Heads, is a perfect option for tourists who want to enjoy a more leisurely cruise.
