Description

The Norfolk Island Botanic Garden is located on Mission Road within the Norfolk Island National Park.

Covering 5.5 hectares, the garden is home to a unique collection of plants endemic to Norfolk Island. Visitors can explore the boardwalk trail, which showcases the island's diverse flora and fauna. The garden also features a Discovery Centre where visitors can learn more about the plants and animals found on Norfolk Island.

The Norfolk Island Botanic Garden is open 24/7, but it is recommended to visit in the early morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat. Entrance to the garden is free, and restroom facilities are available on-site. While there is no coffee shop, visitors can bring their own refreshments and enjoy the views from the viewing platform.

The garden is accessible to wheelchair users and strollers, with several shorter trails suitable for these needs. The history of the garden dates back to Mrs. Pat Moore, who started the collection of Norfolk Island plant species on the property she owned. In 1986, the Norfolk Island Botanic Garden became part of the Norfolk Island National Park, serving as a sanctuary for threatened species. With its diverse plant collection, boardwalk trail, and educational facilities, it offers a memorable experience for visitors.
