Description

Glenthorne National Park-Ityamaiitpinna Yarta is a newly proclaimed national park located in Adelaide's southern suburbs, specifically on Majors Road in O'Halloran Hill.

It covers the former Glenthorne property and the O'Halloran Hill Recreation Park, which are currently undergoing extensive revegetation and restoration programs.

The park offers walking trails, horse trails, fire tracks, and a bicycle veloway for visitors to explore. It is adjacent to Hallett Cove Conservation Park, Marino Conservation Park, and Happy Valley Reservoir. There is a ranger station where visitors can obtain information and maps.

Although the park is still under construction, there is a 4km temporary loop trail available for exploration. It starts and ends at the ranger station and features interpretive signage that provides insight into the park's history and future plans. Activities such as model aircraft flying, horse riding, and pistol shooting are available, as well as picnic areas, barbecues, and a nature play space.

While the park is open to the public, certain areas are still under construction, and visitors must adhere to onsite signage and avoid entering construction zones. Updates on the park's progress can be obtained at the ranger station. Details on permitted activities and fees will be announced in the official park management plan.

To access the park, private vehicles, taxis, or public transport can be used. If using public transport, take the '740' bus from the city center and alight at the stop near the Sandison Road corner. For those driving, Majors Road should be taken south from Adelaide for 16 kilometers.

O'Halloran Hill Recreation Park is now part of Glenthorne National Park-Ityamaiitpinna Y
