Description

The Old Tallangatta Lookout is a hidden gem along the Murray Valley Highway, only a 10-minute drive from the township of Tallangatta.

It offers a breathtaking view of Lake Hume and the old Tallangatta township. Visitors can take photos, have a picnic, or stretch their legs after a long drive. The lookout is located along the High Country Rail Trail, making it a great spot for bike riders to rest and enjoy the stunning landscape.

The Old Tallangatta Lookout has ample parking but it could get crowded during peak season. There are two picnic tables, one of which is undercover, making it a great place to picnic during the summer months or on rainy days. Visitors can also learn about the history of the area through information boards or appreciate the small but beautiful garden.

The Old Tallangatta Lookout is accessible year-round, but the best time to visit is during the peak season from December to January when Lake Hume is at its fullest and most stunning.

To get to the Old Tallangatta Lookout, take a 10-minute scenic drive from the township of Tallangatta or about an hour drive from Albury-Wodonga. There is no public transport available, so it's best to use private transportation.
