Welcome to Pearsall

Until the late 1990s, Pearsall was the southern-most part of the suburb of Wanneroo.

The suburb is bounded by Wanneroo Road in the west, East Road in the north, Lenore Road in the east, and Ocean Reef Road in the west.

Inside my neighbourhood

Pearsall is part of the City of Wanneroo local government area and sits within the City’s Established Central Place Management Area. The smaller suburb is primarily residential, with four local parks for residents to utilise. As Pearsall is a developing suburb, it has attracted a variety of local businesses and the Pearsall Primary School, which was established in 2013 and caters for over 500 students from K-6.

It’s a growing suburb with a population now of over 3,800 people.

Origin of name and history

Pearsall was named after William Charles Pearsall, who together with his son Charles Frederick, opened the first service station in Wanneroo in 1929 and was a member of the Wanneroo Road Board from 1931 - 1950. The name was approved on 1 December 1994.

Wanneroo's first garage at the 13 Mile peg on Wanneroo Road opened for business at Christmas that year, with the Vacuum Oil Company supplying the first bowser. ‘Pearsall’s’, as it came to be known, was a landmark and popular meeting place for the community, especially when a small shop was added.

The Pearsall’s also delivered the mail for many years and screened the first picture show in the Road Board Hall in the 1920s. The original garage was replaced in 1958/59 when a new one was built further back from Wanneroo Road. This garage was demolished in 2002.
