Description

Narrung & Lake Albert Scenic Loop Poltalloch is a visual treat for tourists who like to explore nature's beauty on their trip.

This scenic loop around Lake Albert through the small town of Narrung offers the perfect opportunity to view the northern reaches of the Coorong as well as the Tauwitchere Barrages at Pelican Point via the unsealed but well-graded Long Point or Mark Point Roads.

Narrung & Lake Albert Scenic Loop Poltalloch offers an inland lighthouse, Point Malcolm Lighthouse, built-in 1878 on the hill. It is the only inland lighthouse in Australia and was of great importance to paddle steamers crossing the Lakes transporting all sorts of cargo between Milang and Meningie. Point Malcolm Lighthouse sits on the shores of Lake Albert, allowing visitors to take in the outstanding views of the surrounding area.

While near Narrung, travel to Raukkan, the home of the Ngarrindjeri people. Here you can see the famous church built-in 1868 that appears on the $50 note. It is an exceptional experience to learn about the Ngarrindjeri culture and history while admiring the stunning architecture of the church.

Tourists on this scenic loop should also visit Poltalloch Station. This historic station offers a fantastic, southern panoramic view of Lake Alexandrina. It has a rich history and is perfect for tourists who want to explore the region's economic background.

As you reach the Princes Highway, turn right and return to Meningie's calm town, passing by the historic Ashville Hall and The Pink Lake. This area offers even more stunning views of the region.
