Description

Rapid Bay Jetty, located close to Adelaide, is a hidden gem for underwater photographers looking to explore exquisite marine life.

With an abundance of marine species and excellent diving conditions, this dive site offers stunning opportunities for underwater photography. The pier pilings are covered with colorful invertebrate growth, perfect for macro photography. The "T" section of the second jetty is the best spot for diving, where you can find leafy sea dragons and schools of fish for wide-angle photography.

To reach Rapid Bay Jetty, it is a 90-minute drive south of Adelaide and a 15-minute drive from Cape Jervis. Park your car near the "new jetty" and take a short underwater swim to reach the "old jetty" or surface swim towards the "T" section. The water temperature ranges from 16-19 degrees Celsius, and depths vary from 7-12 meters.

For capturing stunning underwater photographs, use a wide-angle lens to capture schools of fish, take a compass heading to find the best marine life, and closely examine the pier pilings for macro subjects. Take time to learn about fish species and their behavior before photographing them.

If you prefer a leisurely experience, you can camp at the comfortable Rapid Bay camping ground near the jetty. The camping fee is $7/night for adults and $3.50/night for kids. The camping ground provides amenities such as electric BBQs, open-air cold showers, and toilets. Pets are allowed on a leash, but fires are not permitted in metal drums throughout the year.

Rapid Bay Jetty is the perfect destination to immerse yourself in Adelaide's marine life and natural beauty. Explore the diverse marine species, capture stunning underwater photographs
