Description

Brays Bay Reserve & Mcilwaine Park Playground is a fantastic green space located on the waterfront in Sydney’s inner-west.

The reserve features a variety of public facilities, including ample parking, BBQ facilities, picnic benches, a miniature golf track, and playgrounds. McIlwaine Park Playground is next to the reserve and has two separate play areas for younger and older kids. The Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway, a memorial walking track situated on the foreshore of Brays Bay on the Parramatta River, is accessible via the reserve. The best time to visit Brays Bay Reserve is during midweek when it is quieter than weekends. It is located at 443 Concord Rd, Rhodes NSW, and is approximately 100m from Rhodes Railway Station.

The site has a long industrial history, and as such, the Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway and Ship Building Memorial acknowledge the site's contribution where small ships were built for service in WW2. Over the next five years, early morning and late evening lighting and design matters will include safety and activation in renewing the parks' areas. The redeveloped park will feature upgraded and repaired existing opportunities to extend the Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway to continue historic narratives to connect with the emerging community in the western precinct of Rhodes Peninsula. The park ensures visitor comfort with a clean and safe public domain featuring good quality amenities such as shade, seating, lighting, children’s activities, and public art. Involving both the community and broader group of stakeholders in the site's renewal is essential. If you're planning a leisure or family day out, Brays Bay Reserve & Mcilwaine Park Playground is a fantastic location to explore.
