Description

Bushrangers Bay Aquatic Reserve Shellharbour is a stunning diving and snorkelling site located in Bass Point Reserve, just south of Shellharbour Village.

The reserve spans three hectares and protects a diverse range of plant and sea life. Divers and snorkelers are drawn to the reserve for its inner and outer bay, which provide excellent sheltered dive and snorkelling opportunities.

Divers of all skill levels will find Bushrangers Bay to be a fantastic site. The reserve's inner and outer bay offer a variety of underwater environments to explore. Snorkellers will particularly enjoy the intertidal rock pools, which are home to a wide array of invertebrates. It's important to note that the reserve's soft corals are delicate and should not be touched.

One of the reserve's most striking features is a cliff shaped like an amphitheatre. This cliff, located in 10 metres of water and standing six metres high, is filled with small cavities that provide a habitat for tropical fish and sea urchins. It's a great spot for underwater photography.

Visitors to Bushrangers Bay should be aware of the rules and regulations in place to protect the reserve. Fishing and the destruction of marine life, including removing empty shells, are strictly prohibited. It's important to respect the unique habitat of the reserve and avoid touching the soft corals. Getting to Bushrangers Bay is easy by car, with ample parking available on-site. Simply take Shellharbour Road from Shellharbour and turn left onto Bass Point Tourist Road.
