Description

Located on South Bruny Island in Tasmania, Australia, the Inala Jurassic Garden and Nature Museum is a stunning educational facility spread across five acres of land.

It showcases over 750 species from 50 plant families, including the Gondwanan connections of living plant families from the Jurassic period. Visitors can explore the garden's meandering path and learn about the similarities between species found across geographically-distant southern land masses. The Inala Nature Museum also houses an impressive collection of shells, fossils, and minerals, with many ancient fossils on display. Visitors can take specialized nature tours on Bruny Island or stay in one of the cottages with access to the Inala Nature Reserve.

To reach the Inala Jurassic Garden and Nature Museum, visitors can drive or take a ferry to South Bruny Island. If driving, they can take the ferry from Kettering to Roberts Point on North Bruny Island and then drive for about 30 minutes to the garden. Alternatively, there are tour companies offering day trips to Bruny Island that include a visit to the garden.

The garden is open from 10 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday, with an entrance fee of $10 for adults and $5 for children. This fee includes access to both the Jurassic Garden and the Nature Museum. Visitors also have the option to take a one-hour walking tour of the garden with an expert guide for an additional fee. Group bookings are available as well. It offers a unique glimpse into the thriving plant species of the Jurassic period and contributes to conservation projects and wildlife care through the Inala Foundation.
