Description

Kellys Falls Picnic Area is a scenic spot in Stanwell Tops, offering a natural escape for visitors.

The area is known for its diverse wildlife, including satin bowerbirds, honeyeaters, and wattle birds, attracted by the flowering banksias, hakeas, and grevilleas. The towering Gymea lilies are also a highlight.

One of the main attractions is the water cascading over the rocks, creating a relaxing soundtrack for picnickers. The area offers four scenic lookout walks with breathtaking views of waterfalls and rainforest-lined gullies. It is also popular for bushwalking trails that connect to Stanwell Tops and Illawarra Escarpment, leading to the northern suburbs of Wollongong.

Kellys Falls Picnic Area is open year-round, but spring (September-November) is particularly enjoyable with blooming wildflowers and increased wildlife sightings. To get there, visitors can drive approximately 50 km south of Sydney to Stanwell Tops. Ample parking is available on-site, accessible via the Princes Highway and Lawrence Hargrave Drive.
